Please join us for a Memorial Procession on Wednesday, October 13 to celebrate the life of Ethan Johnson and our love for him. All are welcome.
We will gather on the east end of the Washington Avenue bridge, near the Weisman Art Museum on the U of M campus at 5:30pm on Wednesday afternoon. The music will start & the march will stroll promptly at 5:45pm.
We will make our way across the river, through the U, into the heart of the West Bank, filling the entire space with our love for Ethan. Finally arriving at the Cedar Cultural Center at 7pm to begin an evening of remembrance.
Please come dressed-up fancy. Formal, or bright & cheerful: whatever ‘fancy’ means to you. The bottom line is lookin’ good. Dancing is encouraged.
Also, participants are welcome to bring something small that they can carry that reminds them of or embodies Ethan for them. (a flower, a photograph, a croissant, a vial of ecoli, or a small momento.) These items will be collected and displayed in the lobby of the Cedar upon our arrival. Bring marigolds or other orange or yellow flowers.
The Brass Messengers will be providing music for the procession, and there will be flags and banners to be carried by family members and friends. Disparate groups that Ethan was involved in will represent. Musicians who feel like they can pick up the tunes are welcome to bring instruments. Brass instruments are especially welcome.
In general, folks are encouraged to make plans for parking and logistics, as the Cedar Cultural Center is a few blocks away from the parade lineup. There will be guides periodically leading groups to the bridge/convergence from the Cedar Cultural Center from 5 o’clock until 5:20.
Please check this page again for more details as they arise.
